DAYS 1 - 2 Start in the truly Asian metropolis of Jakarta at Alila Jakarta with a city tour and plenty of local food tastings.

DAYS 3 - 4 Head east to Bandung to explore the slopes, sulphur lakes and geysers as well as visiting a local tea plantation.

DAYS 5 - 7 Take an early morning scenic train journey through the Javan countryside to the famous Yogyakarta. Check into Amanjiwo, neighbour to Borobudur, the gigantic ninth-century Buddhist temple which you can gaze towards from the hotel's restaurant.

DAYS 8 - 11 Next, to the beach. And what a beach it is. Not the sunbathing kind as such, but that's what your private pool is for at Nihi Sumba. Surf the world-famous breaks, horseback ride into the sunset and enjoy the local beach horse racing. Away from the shore, you can explore local villages and spectacular landscapes on foot,  mountain bike or horseback. Their Spa Safari is not to be missed - a hike to start the day and a whole array of treatments in the outdoor spa to finish it.
