Postcard from Stockholm

I spent the last weekend of August in Stockholm and completely fell in love with the place. I've rounded up my top 10 tips for a visit to the city.

This is a given in any Scandi city really and I totally concur - the best way to see the city!

Take an art tour

...on the subway. 90+ of the stations have been decorated with sculptures, mosaics, paintings, installations,  & engravings by over 150 artists.

Spend a Saturday around Nytorget

There's a park, a great deli and plenty of bars and restaurants. Don't miss Nytorget 6 & Bar Agrikultur.

Grab a coffee at Snickarbacken 7

Café, exhibition space and a concept store all in one. It's beauitful and does bloody good coffee (and cake).

Shop

The achingly beautiful interiors shops are enough to make you want to completely revamp your home. Grandpa is great for clothes and accessories.

Visit close-by city beach Smedsuddsbadet

A swimming spot at Rålambshov Park. Sandy beach and grassy lawn for sunbathing. Don't miss Boulebar in the park.

Become a cinnamon bun connoisseur

Whilst cycling the city, remember to make pit stops at some bakeries to sample as many kanelbullar as possible.

Sail around the islands

30,000 islands make up the Stockholm Archipelago. There are ferries from the city to some of the nearby ones or you can hire a yacht for a full or half day on the water.
